The biiiig fox at Yuda Onsen station
The sports festival was really winding down, so we hopped back on the train towards Yamaguchi City. Between the Koukutai and Yamaguchi Station is Yuda Onsen. I actually thought it was just an area in Yamaguchi, it seems to be more like a neigbourhood....a large one at that! Very close to Yamaguchi station though....anyway, we got off there, in order to experience it, and I grabbed a map...which said there should be a really cool big Fox statue. Little was I expecting it to be HUGE, and right by the station! The story goes that the little injured white fox was cured by going into the onsen waters in Yuda...the onsens are the hot waters here which people bathe in. Now the fox has become the mascot of the town, and he's super cute!
