While Japan is generally not a PDA kinda place for couples, Korea is. Japan also has tons of these places where couples can write wishes for their relationship, or messages to their love one, and tie them to a gate, or just show a public declaration of love. In Japan you can take a heart shaped lock up most Towers in the country. I think it`s a pretty nice thing.
