One of the really truly unique places we visited was the train market. It was pretty far into the country, and really interesting. There is a long standing market right over the train tracks. Its got a little passage down the middle where you can walk (along the tracks) and people are selling food,fruit, and meat, that kind of thing. Well, they give a 3 minute warning for the train coming, but noone really moves, and then again at one minute.
The people move their food back, or leave the low lying stuff where it is, and fold back the awning. The train passed, sometimes hovering over the food which was left on the sides. Nothing or noone gets squished, though there is literally no space on the side. We waited what I thought was well back, but in fact, I could have reached out 10 cm further in front of me and reached it quite easily!
