I really like Kyushu in general, but Beppu is so fun. It has little hot springs all over the place, places for soaking your feet, and in the hells area, its not built up, its very traditional. We saw the famous little limes they have there, which are orange, strangely enough...and we saw lovely little shrine and had a good time wandering around!
It was nice not to have any specific plans, although we were trying to find Hell #7, the red hell...which is in all the photos....but it was also fun to go around and see the little restaurants. Beppu is 99% tourists from Japan, so needless to say, we were definitely the one being looked at!
