Platja Palma

On our last day in Palma, we decided to take the hire car back and go to the beach, which wasn't far from the car place. We were quite lucky in that it was walkable, and even though we had our suitcases, we thought it would be nice to go sit on the sand for a while. We had a nice time just sitting and people watching (which is what Rachel and I do best) and I really enjoyed making sandcastles! We stayed about an hour, soaking up the sun, and then got some lovely gelato at a little cafe and sat on a bench and watched all the people on the beach! We didn't get a long time, before we had to get to the bus to the airport, but it was still a fun time!

In Alacudia

Because it was such a long drive home, we had to stop and have dinner somewhere, so we picked the large(ish) town of Alacudia, which is a walled town, with some really lovely gates at the entrance. We had a great dinner, and got back on the road quickly, but I got Rachel to do a walk through the lovely little streets and into some of the cute shops too!

Cap de Formentor

If you drive north untill you cant drive any further, the road runs out at a place called Cap de Formentor, the most northern point on the entire island. It is home to a beautiful light house, and a little cafe, where everyone stops and takes a break and can lean over the railings and feel like you are on top of the world!

We had such a lovely time playing on the beach in Formentor. The sand was beautiful and soft and the sea was nice and light aqua coloured! It was so nice! We wrote in the sand, writing our names in the sand and making shadow animals! It was such good fun, and it was a shame we didn't stay there the whole of our trip!

We finally made it to Formentor Beach, which is alllllmost to the very end of the island, where the Formentor Hotel is, where Grace Kelly and Prince Rainier stayed for their honeymoon. There really isnt anything else there, apart from the hotel and the beach, and I can understand now why people say the north of Mallorca is the best. There were beautiful waters, and a pretty beach and we loved it there!

Our first stop in Formentor

There was a big sign, near the top of a mountain, stating that there was a 'observtion point', and boy, was it great! It was a massive load of steps carved into the mountain, leading up to a ledge built so you could look over the edge into the water, and see all the lovely mountains! I had a bit of a tumble down the stairs on some stairs, and dropped my camera, so I was very happy that these photos looked ok in the end! The sky was sooooo blue, with beautiful water, and I completely understand why Grace Kelly came here for her honeymoon! We didn't spend a long time here, as we wanted to get to the next town, but it was a beautiful place to stop and look at the beautifuls scenery!

On the road again...

I had to take another break about halfway up the mountains in Formentor, and I had to get a shot of our cute 'big-bum' car, the Renault Megane! I didnt like driving it, but it is always important to get a photo of the car which got us there! The roads were super skinny and very windy, but at the pull offs, you could see the lovely bay beneath us! It was very difficult, that much driving and that many windy roads, but thank goodness the roads had such a slow speed limit, else I would really have struggled! I ended up having to pull off to let people pass me, but I was so proud of myself for getting us there!
