We made it to the Acropolis!

So after we climbed up and up these hills, we finally made it to the main stream entrance of the Acropolis. But it was really the main entrance of the whole surrounding area of the Acropolis. So then we were with a whole bunch of people, heading up these steps, up, up,

up some more to the actual part of the Acropolis which is very famous, the huge temple. It made it a little less fun because of all the people, and because it was made of marble, even the floor too, so it was slippery! It was super windy, but oh my, was it beautiful there!

The main temple was under reconstruction on one end - the more photographic end (we later found out it has been under construction for almost 10 years). It was so interesting to imaging something so big being completed! The pillars was just huge! It was so large I could barely fit it into a picture! There were people all over, so that made it hard to photograph too! But what was lovely, was next to it, were some more temple ruins which were a little more intact

and that was where we got a few more photos! I love how we coordinated so well on holiday! The Acropolis is on top of a hill, a huge hill, and then carved out of marble, so the view from there is a bit like a "top of the world" view - and it is amazing! I don't think Athens has a pretty sky line per say, but it is a lovely view!

Walking the wrong way up to the Acropolis

I would like to think I can read a map quite well. I did Gold D of E, and I usually am quite good with my sense of direction. We decided to head up to the Acropolis - and we could see it! So off we headed. But it turns out there is definitely a CORRECT way to head up to the Acropolis. We followed one small sign, and our map, before we ended up climbing these little alley ways up up up these steep steep hills. Eventually we made it to this gate, where we asked where we were

- and we had made it to the Acropolis! But the back entrance. So it was a pretty steep climb to go. On our way up, we found these cool ruins, and because we were so tired, we had to stop and take some cool photos. I guess we should have guessed that we were going the wrong way because we didn't see another single person given that it is THE tourist attraction in the entire country!

All Around Athens

Athen's was Josh's pick for the holiday, and he was so excited for it! I had heard so many good things about Athens, and was super excited! We arrived, and again, we stayed in a cute little air B and B. In that apartement, I will always remember playing lots and lots of Uno! But our lady at the apartement was super helpful and gave us advice on where to go and what not. It was quite a turmulous time in Athens, and Greece as a whole, because they were voting on staying in

the EU or not. So the banks were all closed, and cash was hard to get. I felt so sorry for the Greeks during that time - it has to be so frustrating not having access to your own money! We avoided the main government areas, and headed around the sights. One of the

first places we stopped was the ancient Agora. Athens was a really easy city to navigate - we found all the ruins in no time - and even found THE best gelato shop which is pretty much identical to our favourite Italian gelato brand, Venchi!

A day trip to Paxos

One of the coolest things we did in Greece, our entire time was a day trip to Paxos. Two people who used to work with Daddy go there and rent a house for the summer. It's not too far from Corfu, and Daddy arranged it all for us to take a ferry to see them. We got a bit lost on our way to the ferry port,

but that was OK, because we made it with enough time to get a coffee and take the hydrofoil to see them. I get super sick, regardless of what type of boat I am on, but I was in the sun and got a nice snooze. We were met by Daddy's friends, and headed up to their house. Their villa was super lovely, had two bedrooms, and a nice pool. I think it was more up Mummy's street, but she had been so good about us wanting to go a little cheaper and have an air B and B. We hung out in their pool a little bit - it had a little shallow pool and we had

just a lovely time there! After the pool, they had booked a restaurant for lunch. Apparently, there are three little tiny villages on the island, and the easiest way to get around is by bus or a taxi. As we went in the taxi, they took us through these cute little villages. There was no way I could have walked them, but I so would have liked to have been able to get out and walk through them all. But alas, we didn't and we got to Lakka, where we were having lunch. And it was so so amazing! The water was beautiful and blue! They took us to see the

pirate style ship, and we went into a few shops, before eating at such a nice little restaurant! It was probably the best food we had the entire time in Greece! The harbour area was full of huge yachts - Paxos is definitely a place to come and enjoy if you have some money! It was such a picture perfect place that we did have to take tons and tons of family photos!

Herding goats in Akriotiri

We picked Josh up at Akriotiri beach, where he had done his scuba diving. He said that in fact, the instructors there feed the fish, so that it was a cooler experience for the divers! He had got these great chairs for us, and so we sat in the sun on the beach for a while and enjoyed the sun. It was a really busy beach, but the beaches in Greece seem to always have these beach clubs, where you can rent chairs, order food and it's almost like a bar too.

After we left there, we drove around the area a little bit, up these beautiful mountains - with the most amazing view. We parked for a little bit, and saw goats everywhere! It was so quintesentially Greek! We had a really nice time looking at the view, but randomly, our car stopped working and so Daddy had to go and replace the car! It was a bit of an adventure that we didn't need!

Our time in Corfu was really good - it was really laid back, and we got a lot of beach time. Even one day, we spent the entire day back on Glyfada beach. I even managed to have some un because I went to sleep in an amazing bean bag chair! It was such a relaxing time, but a good taste of authentic Greek village life!

Driving through Kassiopi

The main aim o our little adventure was to go to Kassiopi, a little town near to Kalamanki. We didn't get too much time, but we did enjoy a quick walk down to the harbour. It is so pretty, but a lot of the costal towns in Corfu are becoming super touristy, and not in a good way. They cater to cheap, quick holidays and are pretty terrible. But it was cute none the less, and we had an interesting shop in the supermarket too - where everything was impossible to find! But off we went, to collect Josh!

Kalamaki Beach

Josh had booked in some scuba diving time while we were in Greece, right near our air B and B, so Mummy and Daddy and I decided to go on a little adventure. We tried to get to Kalamaki, and almost drove right on past it! It was such a flat beach, and reminded me a lot of Fuerteventura, the sand bar went out so far - you could walk so far in the ocean up to your knees! It wasn't nearly as fancy as Glyfada beach, but we did get two beach chairs and have a little rest!
