The Old Fortress of Corfu

Right next to where we parked the car was this awesome fortress. It was kind of like a castle, but I am assuming it was more for naval defense in the past. It was such an interesting place - you could climb all the way up and around this olf ruins and see over to the harbour. It was such an interesting place! I really enjoyed wandering around, and there was even old cannons and a giant church on the site too.

We managed to lose Mummy for a little bit, but it meant we managed to find her again, after wandering all over the Fortress! It was such an interestin place!

Dipping our feet in the Harbour

Corfu isnt a big town, but it is built a little on high and low areas, so it can be a bit of a walk to get down to the water. You get all these lovely views of the water and so we decided to go down to the water. It was just so so clear! It was pretty warm, so we decided to take off our shoes and dip our feet in the water, while we put on more sunscreen! We had to wear so much sunscreen in Greece!

It was pretty cheap to get water in Greece too - only 30 cents! I couldn't believe it! But it was down by the port that I got some of my favourite photos of Josh and I, with the little tiny Greek flag I bought in town. Corfu Town turned out to be a great, great adventure!

All around Corfu Town

Corfu Town is really really photogenic - like a photographer's dream! It has lots of these cute little alley ways and paths, and all sorts of nice outdoor seating, and beautiful Churches. We mainly just walked around the town, stopping in some of the cute little shops along the way, picking up some presents for Shelby and visiting all the points on the map.

There were lots of churches which we popped into, and all sorts of beautiful viewpoints, where you could overlook the sea, and the lovely harbours! It was after getting a little lost, and walking down all sorts of back alleys and little side streets, and climbing up the stairs that I took one of my favourite photos of Josh I've ever taken on holiday. In one of the little shops, he bought this lovely little straw hat, and he wore it everywhere! It really made him look like he was on holiday! After our long hike up the steps, we found this amazing baklava shop, which was just dripping honey all over! But it was super yummy!

Pretty, pretty Corfu Town

We finished up at the Cemetery, and drove into town from there to find a parking spot! The town was so adorable, and the parking is right in the centre of everything. On one side was a beautiful castle, another was a cricket field , and this lovely park full of little restaurants and these beautiful beautiul pink flowers which I love! I took so many photos of them before we went and grabed some yummy gelato in town. I really loved Corfu Town, and we had a great time!

It was so nice to be on holiday, and it was kind of this realisation that this was the first long holiday we had been on since our honeymoon in Mexico! Greece has been on my bucket list for so long that it was really great to finally be there. And Corfu was totally unlike what I had expected, you could really see the British influence on it!

The British Cemetery in Corfu

After a few days in our little village, trying to find restaurants, going to the beach and such on, and I finally convinced everyone we should head into Corfu Town. I was so excited to go, and to be honest, I expected it to be a little bigger, so I did lots of research. I found the number one thing to do in Corfu Town was the British Cemetery...and there were tons and tons of great reviews on Trip Advisor for the place, saying all about the guy who is running it at 80 some years old.

And he has lots of daughters who all live elsewhere, so there is noone there to help him! We got there, and it was so interesting! We walked all the way around it, through all the cactii, and found all sorts of interesting graves there. We got to chat to

the caretaker too, he was so interesting, and told us lots of stories about Greek history and England's history on the island of Corfu. Josh even found a cute little tortoise too!

The view over Paleokastitsa

Our air B anad B was super cute, this little apartment where we had this cute couple next door who gave us eggs and veggies fresh from their garden. We did try and cook the one time, and Mummy and Josh made a lovely bolognaise. So one time, we tried to go out and find a restaurant. There weren't

many restaurants around us, but we did keep going up and up and up around this hill, where we found a while bunch of closed restaurants, and a great view! A really lovely view of Paleokastitsa, which is this cute beach and port town. It was really our first view of Corfu apart from the beach, and it was super lovely.

Thankfully there was a place to pull our little car over and look over the edge and take some photos! We found a little place that was open, but sadly not for dinner, so we got our first taste of yummy Greek baklava!

We made it to Glyfada Beach!

The very first day after school ended, we hopped on a plane to Athens, and then to Corfu, to go on holiday with Mummy and Daddy. We arrived first, and I was super grumpy (and wouldn't eat anything at the super busy airport) but then they arrived, and we waited hours for a car, but we made it so it finally was starting to look up! Josh had picked out this beach which was the sandiest beach for Mummy, and it was nearer to the airport, so we headed over there. It turned out that there was a new beach club which had just opened two days before, and it had great sun loungers, a good restaurant and an upscale bar. It defitely was a cut above all the rest! We had a nice afternoon there, before heading inland to our cute little Air B and B in the cutest, most Geek villiage you could imagine, with the most amazing chocolate biscuits at the bakery! The first morning, Daddy tried to pay with a 50 euro note, and they just let him have the cookies!
