The only thing I requested to see in Osaka was the big Glica billboard. I don't even know what Glica is, but the Glica man is on this billboard, and most of my JET friends that have been to Osaka, have been there. I knew I needed a photo! We met up with Blair there, so it was nice to have 4 of the Tokyo lot together again! I almost cried I was so happy! Mikalay is Greek, and he saw OPA, the departement store for the first time, so I had to take his photo too!!
After dropping our stuff off at Anna's amazing apartment in the centre of the city, we went out for dinner at Okonomiyaki. It was Hiroshima style, which was strange, as we were in Kansai, but it was a nice chance to just sit and catch up! Mikalay was super excited about the Okonomiyaki, more excited than anyone I've seen!
We met up with Anna after the Aquarium, and went to the Osaka Museum of Art. It was a really nice combo of multimedia, some shadow art, some Andy Warhol, some Renicance stuff, everything really. We spent SEVERAL hours there, so Mikalay and I took a break and took Arty shots!
In the hands on exhibit, there was a lot of fun things to see, like bright pink fish, and puffer fish (which are very popular here) and even Nemo. Usually aquariums have a tank with a Nemo, a Dory and maybe a starfish, so it looks like it is from Finding Nemo, but Osaka Aquarium went one step further and had about 20 Nemos in a tank!
The Aquarium was all decked out for Christmas, with the Whale Shark even sporting a cute little Santa hat! They do Christmas really cute here, with everything coordinating, like these adorable sea themed baubles!!I caught this photo just as I was walking out of the doors from the main aquarium up to the hands on exhibits. Osaka was really into Christmas it seems!
We spent quite a long time at the Aquarium, just staring at the cool fish, but mainly at the Whale Shark tank. I spent a long time just watching it go round and round. There was also an absolutely massive sting ray, the biggest I've ever seen!
It was great to see all the nice fish, and I took Mikalays photo looking so broody! There were a lot of little kids too, so I took this cute photo of a random little boy who was enthralled with the fishies!
Osaka is famous for the Whale Shark. It lives in the largest aquarium tank in the world! It is actually quite a cute thing, and I spent a lot of time staring at it! They have a mock up Whale shark, wearing a Christmas hat, so we also got our photo with that too!
