In Palma they have the same sweet shop which they have in Belgium, it is probably a chain, but it is the loveliest shop in the whole world, you can try all sorts of things in there, they do lovely candied almonds and lots of nougat, and lollipops. Plus it is so colourful, I had to take a photo!
Before I went and met Rachel, I found a Dunkin Donuts (very yummy) and wandered along to this cute little square where I found this building, which apparently, if my Spanish is right, is the Municipality Building, kind of like the Registry office and such. It was partially under scaffolding, weather for cleaning or what I just dont know, but the side of the building looked lovely in the afternoon sun! I had a wander down the road, which miraculously came to the Plaza Major, which is the biggest square in Palma, which actually didnt have any lovely building surrounding it, which was a bit odd!
Yet another church, and this was another place I had found on my list of many things to see in Palma. This one sat on a tiny little square full of locals (not tourists) and sadly, it was closed. I really would have liked to have gone inside, because the outside was so impressive!
This was one of the most MASSIVE churches I have seen in a good while, which was still called a church and not a cathedral. It was down many little side streets, and right next door to a tri-lingual university building in a tiny little square, but it was really cute, and the detail on it was amazing.
I spent a really long time here, just wandering through the garden, it had a lovely Mediterranian feel to it, and the plants were great. They had tables and chairs for people to sit and relax too.
This is the Palace in Palma, which wasn't open the day we got there, for some reason, and it wouldn't be open the rest of the weekend! Such a shame! Underneath the palace is this lovely 'pool' I think would be the best word, under the coloumns and with ivy up the walls, with swans and it's just lovely!
I walked around for quite a few hours, wandering up and down the streets, but these photos were taken along the river, I figured that was a safe place to start. I loved all the palm trees, it felt so nice to be in a hot place for a change! There were lots of nice buildings along the river, which were very lovely mansions, complete with pretty flowers! Palma has a quite Middle Eastern history, so they have lots of lovely pillars and flowers crawling up the sides of buildings. I had a great job getting lost, calling my Mum lots for directions, and getting lost down little alleys. It's not the best plan, but you really do get to see a lot of a place then, and really experience the town!
